ZEW Visiting Researchers Programme (VRP)

We are happy to welcome you. ZEW offers outstanding opportunities to conduct research in a highly inspiring environment. Our Visiting Researchers Programme benefits established researchers as well as up-and-coming economists who plan research stays at ZEW.

As a visiting researcher you will be collaborating closely with your colleagues from ZEW. You will be integrated into our research work and daily academic life. You will have the chance to attend workshops, conferences, and other events. You can use the infrastructure at ZEW to conduct your own research. Scientific exchange between you and our researchers is very important to us, so we invite you to present your work in our seminars and to contribute to joint publications. Many research visits at ZEW have led to long-term scientific cooperation, including exchange visits between ZEW and the home institutions of our guests.

The application process is informal. You can apply by sending a cover letter indicating the research unit at ZEW you would like to stay at and your favoured time-frame, your full CV, a publication record, a motivation letter that includes an abstract of the work you want to undertake at ZEW (topic, description and time schedule), and the contact details of two references. There are no deadlines. Applications should be submitted electronically or by mail to the ZEW research unit you are interested in.

It was a great opportunity for me as a visiting researcher from McMaster University to carry out my individual research and to collaborate with academic fellows on shared scholarly interests at ZEW, one of Germany’s leading economic research institutes. The Visiting Researchers Programme helps not only to build a network for scholars for professional development but more importantly to promote and facilitate high-quality indigenous research.
